Elana loves movies and might not have met her husband if it was not for Transformers: The Movie.

DVD Tuesday – December 8, 2009

harry-potter-hermione-posterThe good variety keeps on this Tuesday with a Harry Potter, a Meryl Streep and a Johnny Depp but you can go wrong with the Ben Stiller, so beware.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince –  David Yates is directing Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson star in the sixth installment in the series.  They are getting bigger and things are getting more dangerous.  Someone very close to Harry dies.  I will not spoil it if you do not know, but really you should!  According to my husband who has never read the books and has only seen the movies under protest, it is his favourite so far.

Julie & Julia –  Nora Ephron writes and directs this movie based on Julia Child’s life, played by Meryl Streep, and Julie Powel’s blog, played by Amy Adams.  Check out Squiggy’s review!  Meryl is fantastic in this performance, likely to be nominated for an Oscar for it.

Public Enemies – Directed by Michael Mann, this movie is set in the 1930 with the first “war on crime”.  Johnny Depp is the leader of the bad guys (the criminals) and Christian Bale is the leader of the good guys (the FBI).  In this game of cops and robbers, who will win?  I hope Johnny Depp because he is prettier.

The Marc Pease Experience – Do not be fooled.  Ben Stiller and Jason Schwartzman star in this movie about a guy ten years out of high school trying to relive his glory as the star in the high school musical.  Sound ok, right?  Nope, save your money.
