Parkdale Film & Video Showcase screens this weekend

Everyone seems to be fleeing the downtown core for parts unknown in order to avoid this weekend’s G20 Summit. Well, if you don’t have a cottage to escape to and you’re staying in the city like I am, I’ve got an idea for an alternative neighbourhood hangout: Parkdale! This weekend is the 12th annual Parkdale Film and Video Showcase, a celebration of Parkdale area artists and audiences.

The main film and video events take place on Friday and Saturday at two different locations. Friday June 25th at 9pm at the Revue Cinema (400 Roncesvalles) is REvisit Shorts Program which features over a dozen films by various seasoned and upcoming artists on contemporary issues. Saturday night at 9pm, in the Fuller Avenue Parkette, is Screening Under the Stars. This program will feature over a dozen different family-friendly films for your viewing pleasure – and you should bring along a blanket and snacks to enjoy.

So if you’re planning to avoid the G20 brouhaha, you don’t have to go farther than the west end for something different. You can get all the information on the Parkdale Showcase at their website.
