This Sunday, March 13 at 4:00pm, the Toronto Jewish Film Festival presents the last Chai Tea and a Movie event for this season. Hosted by the Richmond Hill Silver City (8725 Yonge St.), this edition brings you the 2010 French box office hit La Rafle ( The Roundup) .

Director Roselyne Bosch retells a less known dark blot on France’s involvement in World War II. The story follows a 10 year old boy and his family, who try to stay alive and together when over 13,000 Jews were rounded up by French police and held at Velodrome d’Hiver sports stadium in Paris by order of the Vichy government. With a well-researched, in-depth, and moving plot, and inspired performances by Jean Reno (THE French guy) and Melanie Laurent (of Inglorious Basterds ), La Rafle is well deserving of its acclaim.

Tickets for this event can be purchased at the door (cash only, subject to availability), online (click here), or by phone at 416-599-8433, and the cost is $15. The tea starts at 4:00pm and the movie at 5:00pm. To find out more about this event or the Toronto Jewish Film Festival (which is running May 7-15 this year), please check out the TJFF website.
