Planet in Focus Announces New Green Screen Award

Everyone’s favourite environmental film festival has teamed up with Astral Media’s Harold Greenberg Fund, which supports the development of Canadian films, to create a new award. The Green Screen Award challenges filmmakers to practice what they preach by celebrating efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their productions.

The award applies to feature-length films, shorts, music videos, documentaries, experimental film, and TV shows (but not commercials). The film does not need to be about environmental issues, nor does it have to be a part of the Planet in Focus Film Festival. Any film project that has completed production on or before January 1, 2010 is eligible for the prize. For more information about eligibility, check out the Green Screen Program’s website. The winner will be announced at the Planet in Focus Film Festival on October 14, 2011. The festival runs from October 12-16, 2011. Applications are due by August 5, 2011.
