Celebrate Black History Month with Pam Grier
Jackie Brown

The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) is about to kick off Black History Month (also known as February) in style. Next Thursday, February 2 the CFC, TD, and Clement Virgo will host “An Evening with Pam Grier.”

Actress Pam Grier kicks ass – and has for her whole 40-year career. From her hit blaxploitation films in the ’70s (Foxy Brown, Coffy) to her powerhouse performance in Quentin Tarantino’s 1998 Jackie Brown, and all the roles in between and since, Grier has carved out an impressive career. This event will feature a conversation with Grier about her life and work, inspiration, and role model status.

It all happens at Cineplex Odeon Varsity Cinemas (55 Bloor St W) on February 2 at 7:00 pm. Admission is $20 (for a good cause – proceeds go toward the CFC Diversity Scholarship) and can be purchased online or at the theatre doors that evening. For more information, please visit the CFC website.
