Sheldon Cohen comes to NFB Mediatheque

A still from the NFB animated short The Sweater by Sheldon Cohen

Sheldon Cohen, director and animator behind the classic NFB animated short The Sweater will be at NFB Mediatheque on Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 pm. Cohen will be presenting his animated shorts and will participate in a post-screening discussion and signing session for his new book, This Sweater is For You!

Cohen’s new book explores the creative process behind his films and, more specifically, the artwork of The Sweater .   The film tells the true story of a young hockey fanatic who is accidentally sent a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater instead of the Montreal Canadiens jersey he ordered. He then has to face his friends wearing the hated Leafs jersey instead of the coveted number 9 jersey (in honour of Maurice “Rocket” Richard). This beautifully animated short is hilarious and heartwarming and is a true NFB classic. Hockey fans will love it but the film also has a broader appeal thanks to the unique animation style and humorous tale.

This event is free to attend. For more information please consult the NFB Mediatheque website.
