Do you ever think to yourself that a film festival seems like a grueling, exhausting, and never-ending blur of days and weeks? Great news! There’s a one-day film festival in town!
Octavia Films is a new, Toronto-based non-profit organization that aims to provide resources and education to young, emerging female filmmakers. As part of that mission, they’re presenting the inaugural Breakthroughs Film Festival, a one-day screening of short films by emerging female filmmakers from Toronto and Canada. The event is an evening one, so clear your calendars from 7:30 to 11:00 pm on June 23, 2012, and present yourselves at the Projection Booth for a night of new and exciting films by talented women.
The panel of judges includes Ingrid Veninger (actress, director, and producer), Alexandra Anderson (documentary filmmaker & Chair of the School of Image Arts, Ryerson University), and Linda Barnard (film critic for The Toronto Star). A Q&A/panel discussion with the filmmakers will follows the screenings. Tickets are $15; visit the Octavia Films website for more info.
