The 8th Annual ReelHeART International Film Festival is about to begin. Boasting a fresh lineup of films from directors new and old, ReelHeART is a festival haven for independent, creative work in a range of genres including documentary, music, and dance. Filmmakers from across the globe show off their real art chops in this 3-day jam-packed party. Running from June 27 to 30, 2012, a total of 24 films will be on offer.
Wednesday, June 27 features live readings of the winners of the ReelHeART Feature Screenplay Competition. Live reads, where audiences can cheer on their favourite writer, are always a popular component of this festival. Following that, ReelHeART’s newest addition to the programme showcases the winners of the Short Screenplay Competition in a live read of the top three shorts. Both are happening down at the Harbourfront Community Centre (627 Queen’s Quay W).
Kicking things off on the film side this year is We Run Sh*t from directors Scott Storm and Michael Creighton Rogers, highlighting the underground of the Miami club scene in an America with no funds. Closing out the festival on Saturday, June 30 is feature doc From Hollywood to Dollywood, where gay twin brothers roadtrip through the Southern USA to bring Dolly Parton a movie script.
Films are playing at venues around the city, so check out the schedule here for showtimes and locations. It’s going to be a wicked few days, folks – enjoy!
