A Morning Stroll
Shorts That Are Not Pants: July 13, 2012 edition

In case you missed it, Toronto got a new screening series earlier this year that is entirely dedicated to short films. Shorts That Are Not Pants will have its third official program of new and award-winning shorts on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 7:00 pm.

As is his usual practice, James McNally (local film blogger and curator of Shorts That Are Not Pants) brings us a group of films selected from local talent or through partnering with Future Shorts and the NFB. Highlights this month include Torontonian Alex Kingsmill’s Bang, an official selection from this year’s Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival, and Australian filmmaker Andrew Kavanagh’s 2010 short At the Formal.

The other films on offer are an impressive array of award winners: Grant Orchard’s A Morning Stroll, a Sundance and BAFTA winner, and Academy Award nominee; Guest, from South Korean director Ga Eun-Yoon; (Notes on) Biology, Will Madden’s short film that recently won Best Short at SXSW; and several others that hail from Romania, the UK and Brazil.

The program screens on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the NFB Mediatheque (150 John St at Richmond) at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available at the door, or you can get them online here (it’s a $2 discount if you purchase them in advance). To see the entire program lineup, please visit the Shorts That Are Not Pants website.
