Planet in Focus is accepting applications for the Green Screen Award

Did your latest film or television production go green? If so,  Planet in Focus invites you to apply for the Green Screen Award sponsored by Astral’s Harold Greenberg Fund. This award will be given to a film or television production that has demonstrated and implemented an effort in putting  environmental  awareness front and center in its production practices. This award is unique, being the first of its kind in Canada, and aims to highlight the role that the film and television industry is playing in the  environmental  movement in Canada.

“Around the world, the film and television industry is searching for and implementing solutions to lessen the environmental impacts of their productions,” said Planet In Focus’ Executive Director Rob Pazdro.   “With this award we honour those within the industry who are taking action to solve the most pressing issuing facing our world today; we are thrilled to have found a like-minded partner in Astral’s Harold Greenberg Fund.”

The film or television producer, director, or crew member with the most inspiring story will receive a $5000 cash award  to be presented during the industry series at the 13th annual Planet in Focus Environmental Film Festival,  October 10″“14, 2012. There is a second $1000 cash award for the runner up. Productions are not required to be about environmental issues and do not have to be submitted to the Planet in Focus Film Festival, but the production must employ green methods. Any genre of film or television production, produced in any language, will be considered, but commercials are not eligible.

All applications for the Green Screen Award sponsored by Astral’s Harold Greenberg Fund  must be submitted by August 31, 2012. For more information on the application process, the qualifications you must meet, and to get the application form, visit  planetinfocus.org/green-screen.
