With the last long weekend of the summer over, you just might want to console yourself with a movie. Here is what’s happening today on the Scene for Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
There aren’t any regular screenings at TIFF Bell Lightbox this week, since they’re busy gearing up for the city’s biggest film festival, which starts this Thursday. Of course, if you haven’t yet gone to see the free X-Men Master: Gordon Smith exhibition, it’s open from noon until 5:00 pm.
On at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema today is Sushi: The Global Catch at 9:30 pm, which looks at what our global love of sushi is doing to the environment, and at 6:45 pm, it’s a special Cinema Politica screening of Portrait of Resistance, an independent Canadian documentary about artists Carole Condé and Karl Beveridge and their provocative work. Admission is pay what you can, and the filmmakers and film subjects will be there for a discussion after the screening.
The Revue will screen The Amazing Spider-Man in 3D at 6:45 pm and the latest Wes Anderson film, Moonrise Kingdom, at 9:15 pm. The Fox has Ted at 7:00 pm and Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love at 9:15 pm. Look out for Magic Mike at the Royal at 7:00 pm and The Amazing Spider-Man in 3D at 9:00 pm. And at Projection Booth, they’re showing a 7:00 pm screening of Craigslist Joe.
Come back here tomorrow and we’ll let you know what’s on for Wednesday.
