Blackbird tells the story of Sean, a teenaged “goth” who is teased and ridiculed by his classmates. When an online journal entry is discovered that appears to be the plan for a school shooting, his arrest sets into motion a series of events that will forever change the his life and the lives of those around him.
Writer/director Jason Buxton sat down with TFS to talk about the genesis of this film, what it says about the way youth use technology and what makes this film Canadian.

Like most people who write for the web, I’ve been obsessed with movies since I was very young. My favourite movies are The Social Network, Easy A and Garden State, but I try to spend my time broadening my film horizons. I’m the Publisher of Toronto Film Scene and I Heart Movies, and in my “spare” time, I’m a web designer and strategist. (Gotta support my movie habit somehow…)
