A scene from Janeane from Des Moines.
TIFF Interview: Grace Lee and Jane Edith Wilson on Janeane from Des Moines

Janeane from Des Moines is documentary about an improvised character (the titular Janeane) interacting with political candidates in Iowa, a battleground state. We meet Janeane at a point in her life where she is having a great deal of personal and life issues, all of which are challenging her way of life and personal belief system.

I sat down with director Grace Lee and lead actress, comedienne and improv artist to chat about the making of the film.

Like most people who write for the web, I’ve been obsessed with movies since I was very young. My favourite movies are The Social Network, Easy A and Garden State, but I try to spend my time broadening my film horizons. I’m the Publisher of Toronto Film Scene and I Heart Movies, and in my “spare” time, I’m a web designer and strategist. (Gotta support my movie habit somehow…)
