Fall is beautiful, pumpkin flavoured things are readily available and there are plenty of great films screening all over the city. Here’s what’s happening today on the scene for Monday, September 24, 2012.
Bloor Hot Docs Cinema starts their day with a 6:45 pm screening of Wagner & Me, a documentary that follows Stephen Fry in his search to understand the famous composer Richard Wagner. Following this at 9:00 pm is the Hitchcock classic North by Northwest, in which James Mason and his group of goons chase a misunderstood Cary Grant across the country in one direction.
The festival may be over, but TIFF Bell Lightbox is luckily still showing a selection of films that played at TIFF 2012. Laurence Anyways, Tabu and Rebelle all screen with multiple showtimes during the day. Make sure to take a look at our TIFF coverage to get the inside scoop on these films.
Fox Theatre features two films on Monday that share a very tenuous connection. Hope Springs, starring Tommy Lee Jones, screens at 7:00 pm. The Dark Knight Rises, a Batman film that does not star Tommy Lee Jones, returns to the cinema at 9:00 pm, in case you’d like to see it again.
The Projection Booth East and Projection Booth Metro continue their run of Legend of a Warrior, which debuted at Hot Docs 2012. The film is a father-son story involving a world renowned fighter Frank Lee, who now runs a gym in Edmonton.
Check our listings for more information and additional screenings. And definitely come back tomorrow to find out what’s happening on the Scene.
