Today on the Scene: screenings and film fun for Sunday, September 30, 2012

I’m sure everyone’s a little groggy from their Nuit Blanche late night adventures, so let’s just ease into the coming week with a movie. Here is what’s happening today on the Scene for Sunday, September 30, 2012.

If you didn’t get enough art in last night, TIFF Bell Lightbox is offering family friendly activities all afternoon. From 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, you can take part in Be in the Scene (green screen fun!), Buttonography (design your own buttons!), and Stop Motion Animation. And in between all of the excitement, you can still catch your standard flicks. Beasts of the Southern Wild, Tabu, Show Stopper: The Theatrical Life of Garth Drabinsky, Rebelle, Laurence Anyways, and The Queen of Versailles all have showtimes throughout the day.

For some laughs, head to the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema. At 1:00 pm, as part of JFL 42, watch Jerry Seinfeld: Comedian. As a precursor to Beauty is Embarrassing at 6:30 pm, you can revisit Pee Wee’s Big Adventure at 4:00 pm. At 9:00 pm, film buffs unite once again for the second installment of The Story of Film: An Odyssey, with episodes 3 and 4.

Looking for something a little strange? The Royal Cinema has Eddie: The Sleepwalking Cannibal at 9:30 pm.

At the Projection Booth, check out Oslo, August 31st at 3:00 pm, Craigslist Joe at 5:00 pm, and Legend of a Warrior at 6:30 pm.

It should be a quiet day in the city so it might be a good time to go see The Master without worry of it being sold out. Either way, enjoy your last hours of weekend and if Monday gets you down, check back with us tomorrow for all of the happenings on the Toronto film scene.
