Still from "The Hole Story"
Cinema Politica screens truth to power at the Bloor Cinema this Fall

Cinema Politica returns to The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema this Fall with a screening series of  political independent documentary films and followup discussions. With a motto like “screening truth to power,” you can always expect Politica Cinema to examine hot button topics and uncover some uncomfortable truths, and this Fall’s line-up is no exception.

Be sure to add these compelling docs to your screening calendar.

The series launches with The Hole Story, screening Tuesday October 2, 2012 at 6:45 pm. This insightful documentary shines a light on the more distasteful practices of Canadian mining companies and examines the ramifications of putting profits before people.

The series continues on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 6:45 pm with The Carbon Rush, a skewering look at the increasingly common practice of trading carbon credits and introduces viewers to  meet the people on the front lines of carbon trading.

Cinema Politica wraps up the 2012 screening season on Tuesday, December 4 at 6:45 pm with Vol Special, a heartbreaking look at “illegals” rounded up in a detention centre and housed in prison-like conditions with virtually no rights.
