While it is Sunday, and you don’t have to put pants on, I recommend that you do because there’s a lot to see out there today. And we know putting pants on is hard, so we did the rest of the work for you by scoping out what’s happening today on the Scene for Sunday, October 14, 2012.
At TIFF Bell Lightbox, the day starts off at 10:00 am in a mysterious and exciting way. It is the first Reel Talk: Sneak Preview 2012/2012 Season screening. One Sunday a month, audiences will see an upcoming release before anyone else gets to. The catch is, you won’t know what film it is until it starts. If the element of surprise isn’t for you, Nobody Walks and Keep the Lights On both screen throughout the day.
At the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, the Up Series continues with the final three installments at 11:30 am, 2:00 pm, and 5:00 pm. For all of you who have been waiting patiently for your next film history lesson, episodes 7 and 8 of The Story of Film: An Odyssey screen tonight at 7:30 pm. And to end your weekend Hot Docs style, Herman’s House begins at 10:00 pm.
Recycling is great, but why don’t you take another green step and check out the 13th annual Planet in Focus film festival? The festivities take over TIFF Bell Lightbox beginning at 10:00 am. With short and feature length films, our great Mother Earth is beautifully celebrated. Be sure to check out the closing night gala screening of Chasing Ice at 7:00 pm. For more information, visit their website here.
It’s a full day at Projection Booth East. Rollertown, MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ: THE ARTIST IS PRESENT, Kumare, and Battle Royale all screen today.
It’s too chilly to go to the Beaches for some sun, but you can certainly still go to the Fox Theatre for a movie. Playing today is ParaNorman, Hope Springs, To Rome With Love, and The Queen of Versailles. Or if you find yourself in Roncesvailles, go visit The Revue and see ParaNorman, The Intouchables, or The Bourne Legacy.
Thanks for reading, film friends. Start your week off right by checking back with us tomorrow for Monday’s happenings on the Toronto film scene.
