University of Toronto’s Cinema Studies Student Union offers a night of horror just in time for Halloween. Three Extremes (2004) is a trio of short horror films from the minds of three brilliant directors in Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan. Firstly, director Fruit Chan presents Dumplings , a seemingly delicious rejuvenating diet with a terrifying secret ingredient. Cut , written and directed by Park Chan Wook, tells a gripping tale of desperation as a movie director gets kidnapped by an extra in his film. He must fulfill the extra’s wishes or watch as his wife, gruesomely tied up in her piano wires, loses her limbs. Rounding out the cast, Takashi Miike presents Box , the story of a former circus contortionist haunted by her twin sister’s ghost and tormented by her desire to move on.
Ring in Halloween with this frightening, three-piece film sure to bring on the chills.
