Hurricane Sandy has come and gone, but the rain continues at least until the weekend (or so the weather report says). Nothing beats a wet, grey day like a movie! Here’s what is happening on the scene for Thursday, November 1, 2012.
TIFF Bell Lightbox continues to host Samsara, Dial M for Murder and Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel with multiple screenings throughout the day. Then, the special Living Dread series with the master zombie director George A. Romero continues, with screenings of Martin at 6:30 pm and The Crazies at 9:00 pm. Romero will be on hand to introduce Martin.
The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema presents a special screening of the award-winning Life in Stills at 7:00 pm and You’ve Been Trumped at 9:30 pm.
The Revue Cinema will screen The Intouchables at 7:00 pm and the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, at 9:15 pm.
The Fox Theatre has the delightful animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Fantastic Mr. Fox at 7:00 pm and brings back Terrence Mallick’s 1978 film Days of Heaven, starring Richard Gere and Sam Shepard.
At the Royal, it’s the premiere of Toronto director Ryan M. Andrews’ Sick: Survive the Night at 7:00 pm, and the final screening of the week long run of the new home invasion thriller In Their Skin at 9:15 pm.
Projection Booth East continues their second annual Python-a-thon all week with The Life of Brian at 4:00 and 9:00 pm and Monty Python and the Holy Grail at 2:30 and 7:30 pm.
