19 Jan 2010For all you avid and eager action fans let me be the first to warn you this is not an action movie. The Book of Eli is a compilation of fables and parables mixed into a post-apocalyptic Western world hell-bent on preaching to audience members. That said the film is faithful in...Archived in Major Theatrical Reviews

15 Jan 2010With Rob Marshall’s latest musical effort Nine it is no surprise that the only thing he able to perfect was his marketing campaign and diversity in casting choices. If any of you have the expectation or hope that Marshall’s interpretation of a Fellini classic is even close to his Academy...Archived in Major Theatrical Reviews

15 Jan 2010When someone submits and agrees to indulge themselves in a Nancy Meyers film, it ignites this certain sense of familiarity – a picturesque IKEA universe, bubbly fumbling characters, light-hearted fun and laughs and a strong subliminal estrogen-driven perspective – they must be alright with that. Nancy Meyers may not be...Archived in Major Theatrical Reviews

30 Dec 2009A Single Man is the directorial debut of Tom Ford. Ford is the man behind Gucci—a man who is credited for reviving Gucci from bankruptcy in the early 1990s and who later became Gucci’s creative director and founded Yves Saint Laurent. So why is all this information important? Like I...Archived in Independent & Repertory Reviews

I absolutly LOVED this film. Dasha is quite right, its haunting in an eerily real way, its disturbing but powerful without apologies. And kudos for mentioning the best long-take of 2010 and perhaps the best one i have seen since 2008's Hunger.Review: The Secret in Their Eyes

The film itself is a lot of fun and does inspire a lot of whacky intentions. I would recommend this film to anyone who wants to slightly wet there feet with a hint of indie cinema, surronded by big named actors. Check it out! Fun family movie! If you thought your family was bad, You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet!Review: City Island

The movie itself and its lonly star character George is in fact a sole and isolated individual devoted to his misery and broken-heartedness. The movie itself is a commentary on the life of a homosexual man in the past. Its kind of a funny film, because although it deals with subjects of homosexuality, it has not gained not even a fraction of such similar films like Milk and Brokeback Mountain. Just goes to show how these themes and issues in film are becoming more and more acceptable to society...as they should. Great film, i encourage the pondersome and open-minded to see!Review: A Single Man

I was not looking forward to this film at all... And to be quite honest, i am still not...BUT you kind of got me on the fence now Dasha. Great review...Your best to date PS--I kind of have a phobia reagrding Cera, and be honest, will this film be the cure to his typecast characters in all his films. The kid makes me nervous, im not going to lie!Review: Youth In Revolt

Gemma, I am so very glad that my review has touched you. I myself am not one who has been able to say that i have had a front row seat when it comes to any kind of experience with abuse, but I think its quite a beautiful and wonderful thing to overcome and pull so much strength together to come to terms with watching this movie. I will warn you, it will not be the easiest ride, but it is so damn well worth it by the end. The film will inspire you to change, will inspire you to progress and most of all inspire you grow stronger as a person. Trista, I am very glad that my persuasion was NOT able to convince you to watch the movie but I hope sometime in the near future, you will find it to your full advantage and will to want to see such a touching, raw and emotional film one day. I hope everyone really gathers up the courage to see this film. Its truly a revelation!Review: Precious
