Interesting question. I'm a huge documentary fan - hell, I wrote a thesis on it - but the very nature of film is such that whatever you watch in a documentary is, by definition, in the past. Political issues are complicated, and in order to make a reasonably thoughtful, balanced, informative documentary about political issues takes care and time. And by the time the film is done, the political situation may have changed, shifted. However, political films are important records of moments of time, and give us knowledge of the past to help put the present in context. Some interesting examples: Iraq in Fragments, The Fog of War, Night and Fog, to name a few.Your Turn: Political Films
