Black Museum, the east end’s horror exhibition, will host Echoes from the Sleep Room: Medical Terror in Canadian Horror Cinema today, November 22, 2012 at 8:00pm. Toronto-based writer and Canuxploitation.com creator Paul Corupe will lead the lecture on the development of Canadian horror cinema’s fascination with medical and psychological terrors, and where their historical bases are found (hint: the Nazis.) Canadian director Vincenzo Natali, known for the highly regarded Cube, and most recently Splice, will host a lecture as part of the Black Museum’s Toronto debut. The lecture looks at the use of space in horror, focusing on architecture of classic horror films like The Shining and Rosemary’s Baby in addition to Natali’s own work. The Black Museum will continue to hold horror lectures and screenings throughout the autumn. The German director will be attending the world premiere of her newest work Hannah Arendt following a discussion between herself, co-writer Pamela Katz, and moderator Marc Glassman at the Goethe-Institut Toronto this Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 5:00pm. The film is based on the German-Jewish political philosopher who faced intense scrutiny for her New York Times article on the trial of Adolf Eichmann.
