NFB Mediatheque
In case you hadn’t heard the bad news, the NFB Mediatheque will be closing its doors on September 1, 2012 due to budget cuts. So, their August programming line up is your very last chance to get in some National Film Board viewing at this venue before it’s too late. And best of all, it’s free! First up, on Wednesday, August 1 is Waterlife from filmmaker Kevin McMahon. This award-winning documentary documents the largest fresh water supply on Earth – the Great Lakes. The Chocolate Farmer, screening Wednesday, August 8, tells the story of a cacao farmer in Belize. Though...
Is there a better way to cool off this summer than to dive straight into the ocean? Created in partnership with the Toronto International Flamenco Film Festival, NFB facilitators will be on hand to help you share your ideas and make your dreams come (digitally) to life....
Until February 2, the National Film Board will be screening highlights from its Inuit audiovisual legacy project Unikkausivut: Sharing Our Stories. Canada’s four Inuit regions share a long tradition of storytelling, passing legends and tales down through the generations. This collection of animated and documentary films, a collaboration of the NFB, the Government of Nunavut, and the Inuit Relations Secretariat of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, provides a fascinating portrait of Inuit culture....
