Comments are for fun.

Talking about movies is fun. Sometimes arguing about movies is just as much fun. At Toronto Film Scene we work hard to create a community of film lovers that’s fun to be a part of and so we have some simple guidelines to help everyone enjoy their TFS experience.

We don’t like Spam.

Please fill out the comment form completely. Please don’t use suspicious sounding names or URLs. Avoid use of excessive links or keywords as these may be edited or deleted. We use Akismet to auto-filter our spam for us but it’s a computer and it sometimes makes a mistake. If you don’t see your comment and you think it should be there, please email the Editor at trista@thetfs.ca.

Be kind to your fellow film lover.

We love it when our readers debate the infinite array of film opinions out there, but we don’t like it when things get personal. Remember that there’s a person behind the comment. Comments that include personal attacks, discrimination of any kind, offensive language or inappropriate content will be deleted. Commenters who repeatedly include this type of content in their comments will be blocked.

Keep it rolling.

Try to keep comments relevant to what’s being talked about. Conversations can go lots of places but try not to add a non-sequitur that stops conversation completely.

Keep it private.

Toronto Film Scene respects your privacy, please see our privacy policy for more details about this. We also like it when you keep things private. Please don’t disclose private information in a comment such as phone numbers, snail mail addresses, birthdates or any credit card information. We will edit this type of information out so please don’t post it.

We’ll keep it public.

Your comment will only be responded to by the author within the comment section. You will never be contacted directly in response to a comment by a writer of Toronto Film Scene.

We’ll keep a watch.

Toronto Film Scene and its designates reserve the right to edit, delete, move or mark as spam any or all comments that we feel violate this policy. We know that you certainly won’t fall in to this category, right?

If you feel that a commenter has violated the terms of this policy please email the Editor with the title of the post, the name of the commenter (as it appears on the screen) and the date you saw the comment at trista@thetfs.ca.
