On the very surface of this film it is cliched and slightly campy with great action sequences. If you take a moment to scratch even slightly below the shiny, Hollywod veneer, you’ll see a very interesting film about the war North America is currently fighting. You see, Battle Los Angeles is to the Iraq war what Cloverfield is to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and therefore, it very much deserves your time....
So, I know we’re supposed to appreciate the fine craft of filmmaking during TIFF, but let’s get real for a minute. Watching movies is my preferred activity in life but for most of us, the film fest is an excuse to stargaze in a way that we all claim is below us. Well, it’s certainly not below me, so it is with great pleasure that I confirm the attendance of pretty much every Hollywood star you can think of and more at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival....
