It usually means going back to a reviled institution to face people you didn’t necessarily like to begin with and, if things haven’t worked out as you’d hoped, smiling politely while your former classmates gloat about how great their lives have turned out and making an excuse to exit before the spotlight is turned on you. If there ever was a Hollywood film to help improve and reignite passion and love into the lives of couples worldwide, I doubt Dr. Phil had Couples Retreat in mind; especially with the fast talking, manipulative motormouth of Vince Vaughn headlining. As therapeutic and serious as the film itself tried to be (something we failed to see in the trailer), it offered little to no insight on how to reconcile and triumphantly tread the waters of marriage.
